Local Team Preparing for Susan G. Komen 3-Day
TAKE ACTION - LOVE NOW enlists the Nazareth area community to help the team reach its fundraising goal.
3 days. 60 miles.
To erase breast cancer.
That's exactly what a local team of three women and one man is preparing to do October 5-7 during the Susan G. Komen 3-Day -- a three-day, 60-mile walk that "is simply the boldest thing you can do in the fight to end breast cancer," according to www.the3day.org.
TAKE ACTION - LOVE NOW is the name of our local team. Members include Nicole Burns of Nazareth, Sandy Fuquay of Upper Nazareth Township, Heather Jenkin of Lower Nazareth Township, and Donald Meador of Easton.

The entire team has been personally affected by breast cancer, whether it was a mother, grandmother, cousin or friend receiving the devastating diagnosis.
The team has agreed to raise $9,200, or $2,300 each, in donations -- money that will be "invested in community-based breast health programs and breast cancer research," according to takeactionlovenow.org, the team's website.

In order to reach their fundraising goal, TAKE ACTION - LOVE NOW has enlisted the help of the Nazareth area community and local businesses -- , and , all in Lower Nazareth near the Northampton Crossings shopping center.
The team's first fundraiser was held at Saladworks on Feb. 3. They set up a table and sold raffle tickets. Prizes included tickets to a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game, passes for Lehigh Valley Laser Tag, and tickets to the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks.
According to Dave Maciborski, owner of the local Saladworks, 10 percent of the proceeds made between 4 and 8 p.m. Friday night will be donated to the team's fundraising goal.
"It's all for a good cause," Maciborski said while donning a pink Eagles football hat and tie-dye shirt.
This particular fundraising event hit close to home for several Saladworks employees, so they helped the community get into the fundraising spirit.
On "Pink Friday," Maciborski's employees wore pink tie-dye shirts made by Kellie Parenti, and pink ribbons made by Cindy Tripp. Even the gentlemen in the group were good sports and proudly wore pink.
