The Nazareth Cyber Academy is open to students currently enrolled in charter schools and to those who return to the school district as fully enrolled NASD students.

NASD officials began the process of investigating the feasibility of implementing online courses for students early in the current school year. This effort was primarily motivated by the need to provide a more personalized education for students.

Superintendent Dr. Victor Lesky also noted that the development of the cyber program would allow for some cost-cutting.

“The development of the Nazareth Cyber Academy will certainly expand our educational options for students and make education more personalized for them," Lesky said in a press release. "In addition, the availability of the Academy will enable students currently enrolled in charter schools an opportunity to return to NASD to receive a high-quality online education, which will result in a direct positive impact on our annual budget.”

The school district hopes that the new online program will draw currently enrolled charter school students back to NASD where they can continue their education in an online environment, and also receive the benefits of a rigorous curriculum and a Nazareth Area School District diploma.
