Nazareth Resident to Receive Award from Red Cross

John Weaver will be honored for his volunteer work during the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley's Awards Celebration and Annual Meeting on June 11.

The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley announced this year’s award recipients -- including a Nazareth resident -- who will be recognized at an Awards Celebration and Annual Meeting on June 11. 

The honorees are:

  • John Weaver of Nazareth and the Department of Nursing at Cedar Crest College -- Both will receive the Special Citation for Exceptional Volunteer Service in recognition of volunteer performance over a period of several years that has substantially exceeded the original commitment to the Red Cross.
  • Joseph C. Lennert, president and CEO of Caruso Benefits Group, Inc. -- Lennert will receive the Clara Barton Honor Award for Meritorious Volunteer Leadership in recognition of his service in a number of leadership positions held over a period of years.
  • Embassy Bank and Joshi Hotels Group -- Both will receive the Good Neighbor Award for their significant, ongoing support to the local Red Cross over a number of years.
  • Lehighton School District -- The district will receive the Exceptional Partnership Award in recognition of the outstanding partnership of the Red Cross and another organization.

The event will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Banana Factory in Bethlehem. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be available from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., followed by the annual meeting and awards presentation.

Cost is $30 per person, or $300 per table sponsor, which includes seating for eight and signage.
