New School Board Member to be Chosen at Special Meeting

Nazareth Area School Board will hold a special public meeting at 6:30 tonight to select a candidate to fill a vacant seat created by the death of longtime board member Thomas Maher.

The Nazareth Area School Board will hold a special public meeting at 6:30 p.m. today, Jan. 4, to choose a candidate to fill a vacant seat created by of longtime board member Thomas Maher.

The board meets in the Walter L. Peters Boardroom, which is located next to the District Offices at .

All candidates who applied for the position will be interviewed for at least 15 minutes at tonight's meeting, Superintendent Victor Lesky . The board will choose the new member tonight, which is the last day to meet the 30-day window required by state law to fill the vacant seat.

Maher, a 12-year board member and the board treasurer, had been scheduled to be sworn in for another four-year term during the board's reorganization meeting in December. He died Nov. 30 at his home in .
