Police Officer Charged With Assaulting His Wife

A Colonial Regional Police Officer was charged Aug. 19 with assault against his estranged wife.

Colonial Regional Police Officer Dean Benner, 41, was charged Aug. 19 with assault against his estranged wife, The Express Times reports.

Nazareth Police were called to the 100 block of S. New Street at 9am Aug. 19 where Benner and his wife, Kamett, were having a dispute over custody of their son, the report states. Benner allegedly pushed his wife when she tried to walk away from him, and then grabbed her, according to the article, and threw her backward onto the floor of the living room.

Benner was released on $25,000 unsecured bail, and was placed on paid leave from Colonial Regional Police.
