Photographer Elaine Zelker will tell the fascinating stories behind The Hand-Some Journey Project at from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 20.

On her website, elainezelkerphotography.com, this is how Zelker describes the project:

If you were to hold one item that represents the “essence of your journey”… what would it be? A rosary, a hammer, a cigar, a bird, a book, a bible, a flower??? I sit with residents/patients in nursing facilities across the [Lehigh Valley] and ask that very question. This project has been the most amazing and humbling experience of my life. The stories that unfold by spending time with these people are outstanding and worth talking about. For some, this may be their last opportunity to talk about their life... or perhaps a last chance to be listened to…
