1 Injured In Major Bridgeport Fire That Shut Down Roads, Power

The significant blaze that shut down power for several blocks and closed roads for hours left one person injured, officials said.

BRIDGEPORT, PA — The major fire that shut down roads in Bridgeport on Friday severely damaged a local auto shop, authorities said.

One person was injured during the incident.

It occurred on Friday, Oct. 17 at about 1:14 p.m. at Brandi's Automotive, located on 130 W. Front Street.

The cause of the blaze is not yet clear.

PECO had to cut power to the first block of Front Street and W. Second Street for several hours.

DeKalb Street was shut down from W. 4th Street to Norristown, and W. Front Street was closed from Depot Street to DeKalb Street. Closures remained in place for several hours as crews extinguished the blaze.

One person was evacuated from the business, and was taken by Plymouth Ambulance 308 to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. They are currently in stable condition, but suffered burns and smoke inhalation.

The blaze drew a large response from area fire departments, including Bridgeport, Norristown, Conshohocken, Upper Merion, Plymouth, Radnor, Gladwyne, Jeffersonville, Lower Providence, Norriton, and Center Square.e

Authorities are continuing to investigate.
