The only ballots that have been sent out thus far are ballots that were approved before Sept. 20. The elections office is now in the process of sending out the next wave of ballots — a process which includes approving each ballot, sending it to the printer, and then putting it into the mail for the U.S. Postal Service to deliver.

Thousands of more ballots will be sent out in Montgomery County every day.

Factors like when you applied for a ballot and the efficiency of the Postal Service will determine when exactly you receive your ballot. There is no universal "receive by" date.

The county has opened up five voter services offices around the area for residents to do everything all in one visit: register to vote, apply for a mail-in ballot, and turn their ballot in. For those worried about their ballot not arriving in time to be counted or getting lost in the mail, it offers the comfort of in-person confirmation.

Of course, polls will also be open for in-person voting on Election Day Nov. 3, for those who opt not to cast their ballot by mail.

You can check the status of your ballot at any time through the Pennsylvania Voter Services portal online.

The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is Oct. 27.
