Actress Maria Bello Visits Villanova

The Norristown native and Villanova alumna was in town to fundraise for her Haitian charity.

According to Main Line Media News, actress Mario Bello (History of Violence, Beautiful Boy) visited Villanova University yesterday to speak to students at her alma mater about the importance of service. The Norristown native was visiting the Main Line primarily to raise funds for her Haitian charity, We Advance.

“When I first landed in Haiti four years ago, I knew I was home,” Bello told Main Line Media News. “Here it is, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, an hour and a half off our shores, and you can’t believe how some people live there... I think it’s true that women hold up half the sky. The more women are politically, socially and economically empowered, the more money goes to children’s health and education.”
