Area Fireman Has Close Call With iPhone
The East Brandywine Fire Company in Downingtown has issued a warning about a possible fire hazard associated with the iPhone.
According to the East Brandywine Fire Company, one of the company's firefighters experienced a close call with an Apple iPhone earlier this month.
While charging the phone using the Apple-provided computer connection, the phone allegedly caught fire spontaneously. The phone fell to the floor igniting the carpet but the firefighter was able to thrown the phone out a nearby window.
According to the report, despite the iPhone being relatively small, it produced a large volume of smoke and a noxious smell.
Local Apple representatives could not determine what caused the phone to ignite an the phone was sent to California so that Apple engineers can investigate the cause.
The East Brandywine Fire Company plans to keep readers posted regarding the findings.
