Attempted Burglary Thwarted by Man Sleeping on Couch, Police Say
A victim whose home was burglarized two days earlier awoke to find a man climbing through the front window.

Once bitten, twice shy.
After having his home burglarized on June 23, a Norristown man decided he was going to try to prevent it from happening again. He placed a couch directly in front of the window that was previously used to gain entry to his home and began to sleep there, just in case the burglars were brazen enough to return.
His actions proved wise, as two days later, he awoke to find a man attempting to climb through the very same window – again.
On June 25 at 2:50 a.m., police were dispatched to the 200 block of East Brown Street for a report of a burglary in progress. There, police met the victim, who stated that he was awakened by the sound of the front window opening. The victim quickly sat up and saw a man attempting to gain entry, at which point the man fled the scene by running east on Brown Street towards Arch Street, according to the report.
Nothing was stolen or damaged, police said.
The burglar is described as being 5 feet, 11 inches, weighing 150 pounds and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. His race and age are unknown, according to the report.
A witness told police they saw two black males on the corner of Arch and Brown streets, just prior to the attempted burglary, police said. One of the men then went west on Brown Street and was gone for a minute, the witness said. The second man then screamed for his friend, whose name begins with a D and could possibly be Davante, Deandre, Dante or something along those lines, the report states.
The two men were last seen running south on Arch Street, near the intersection of Summit Street.
