Blue Route Lane Closure Tuesday Night for Sign Structure Installation
Southbound I-476 will be reduced to two lanes between Ridge Pike and the Schuylkill Tuesday night to allow for the installation of a sign structure.

According to a release issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), southbound Interstate 476 in will be reduced to two lanes between Ridge Pike and Interstate 76 from 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, for the installation of an overhead sign structure, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.
In addition to closing one of the three southbound travel lanes, crews will also close the southbound I-476 deceleration lane to the I-76 off-ramp (Exit 16) during the overnight operation.
If Tuesday night’s operation is postponed due to inclement weather, the sign structure installation will take place from 10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, to 5 a.m. Thursday, March 1.

Motorists traveling south on I-476 are advised to expect traffic slowdowns approaching the work area and allow extra time for travel during construction.
This work is part of PennDOT’s substantially-completed project to rebuild the 3.2 miles of I-476 between the I-76 (Exit 16) and Germantown Pike (Exit 20) interchanges in Montgomery County. PennDOT’s contractor rebuilt the southbound side of I-476 in 2010 and the northbound side in 2011. Crews are currently completing miscellaneous construction items within the work zone.

Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, is the general contractor on the $71,728,383 contract that is financed with 100% federal funds.
