MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — A boil water advisory that had been issued in certain communities around the Norristown region after the potential was discovered for "microbial contamination" in the drinking water supply has now officially expired.

Patch previously reported that the warning was issued because possible microbial contamination could lead to disease-causing organisms, such as bacteria, viruses and parasites, which could make individuals who consume the water sick with stomach issues.
Water officials had advised folks in the affected areas to boil all water that would be used for consumption, and even water that would be used to wash dishes and brush teeth.

Water was determined to be OK for bathing, however.
Officials had said that crews late last week were making emergency repairs due to a water main break that occurred Friday at around 9 p.m. that affected the communities listed on the boil water warning.
Residents in the area were warned that they might have experienced a service interruption or low water pressure while repairs were made.
With the boil water advisory now being lifted, residents can resume to consuming tap water as normal.
