Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency Declared In Montgomery County
Very cold temperatures are on the way.
NORRISTOWN, PA — Frigid temperatures are on the way to the greater Philadelphia area and local authorities in Montgomery County are taking steps to prepare.
A cold weather Code Blue emergency has been issued by the county commissioners and public health office to help marshal additional resources.
The Code Blue is in place from Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 9 p.m. to Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 9 a.m.

This marks the second Code Blue in the county in a week after near-record high temperatures and dry spells throughout October and into November.

The county offered the following tips to residents:
- Check on elderly friends and neighbors frequently to ensure that their homes are adequately heated
- If you see someone in need of immediate emergency assistance, call or text 9-1-1
- Make sure your car is winterized with antifreeze, a full tank of gas, properly inflated tires, and is stocked with an emergency kit
- Check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
- Wear appropriate clothing and avoid prolonged exposure when going outdoors in winter weather
- Limit pets' time outdoors during extreme temperatures
- Report power outages directly to your utility company; DO NOT call 9-1-1
