Code Red Hot Weather Emergency Declared In Montgomery County

The lethal heat index will soar to 105 degrees over the next two days, forecasters said.

NORRISTOWN, PA — With severe heat moving into the Delaware Valley to kick off the week, Montgomery County has declared a Code Red hot weather emergency through Tuesday evening.

Temperatures will reach the upper 90s and the heat index will be over 100 on both Monday and Tuesday, peaking at around 105 in parts of the Philadelphia suburbs Tuesday.

"Such conditions can be deadly, and residents should take precautions to prevent heat-related stress and illness," Montgomery County Commissioners said in a statement.

In Montgomery County, residents are urged to check on the most vulnerable residents, particularly those with severe medical conditions.

Lower income homes, individuals experiencing partial or full time homelessness, infants and children, the elderly, and physical laborers are particularly at risk.
