Code Red Hot Weather Emergency Declared Yet Again In Montgomery County

The emergency declaration comes as it expects to feel around 107 degrees outside with the heat index on Tuesday.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — County officials have once again declared a 'Code Red Hot Weather Emergency' for the region, the announcement marking the second time in just a matter of days that such a declaration was issued.

The announcement came amid soaring temperatures, what meteorologists say might feel like 107 degrees outside on Tuesday when factoring in the heat index.

The Montgomery County commissioners made the decision to declare the hot weather emergency Tuesday on advice from the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety.

Code Red Hot Weather Health Warnings are issued in anticipation of an oppressively hot air mass with a heat index in excess of 100 degrees, the county stated.

Such conditions can be deadly, and any Montgomery County resident who are risk, such as the elderly, children and those with chronic medical conditions, are asked to be especially careful throughout the day.

County residents in need of emergency shelter during the heat emergency can call the Your Way Home Call Center at 2-1-1 or text their zip code to 898-211.

Montgomery County and the surrounding counties outside of Philly in Pennsylvania are not the only places dealing with record hot temperatures.

Places like neighboring New Jersey are also grappling with historic heat.
