Coroner Confirms Cause of Death for Jennifer Lewis

Montgomery County Coroner Walter I. Hoffman, MD, confirmed a cause of death on Wednesday for According to Dr. Hoffman, Lewis died from combined drug intoxication (CDI) with a contributing condition of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Dr. Hoffman confirmed that traces of oxycodone and oxymorphone, both narcotics, were detected by a toxicology screen.

Authorities responded to Lewis' home just after 1 a.m. on Monday, July 9, for a report of an unresponsive subject and reportedly found her bleeding from the mouth. CPR was being administered, but a police report indicated that Lewis was unresponsive, not breathing and cold to the touch. She was transported by Plymouth Ambulance to Montgomery Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 1:38 a.m.

A male friend reportedly told police that he had been staying with Lewis to help her care for her three children because she had not been feeling well for the three days prior to her death. The man told police that Lewis had multiple medical issues, including a recent onset of diabetes, and had refused to seek medical attention for her condition.

The man told police he heard Lewis moaning and gasping shortly before 1 a.m. Monday morning and called two other friends for help. One of those people reportedly called 9-1-1.
