Council Commends Police Department for Targeted Response to Troubled Area
Council members applauded the recent successful measures the police have taken to help the residents of West Main Street clean up their neighborhood.
Norristown Municipal Council took some time out of a jam-packed agenda at Tuesday evening's meeting at to commend Police Chief Russell Bono and the on its recent success in helping the residents in the area of the 600 block of West Main Street to clean up the neighborhood. The department had in the area over the weekend, resulting in 15 arrests.
The sting was yet another effort by police to respond to residents of the neighborhood who asking for help in fighting the rising criminal activity they were seeing in the area.
The police had stepped up patrols and enforcement in the area working from information supplied by the residents. Chief Bono mentioned several problem tenants who the police were able to remove from the neighborhood along with an increase in enforcement of open container, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and possession ordinances, all stemming from information provided from residents.

The Norristown Police Department urges all residents to contact the police if they have any information about criminal activity in their neighborhood. Call the department at 610-270-0977 to report any crime.

"We are willing to work any neighborhood if they give us the necessary information," said Bono.
