Deck Fire Spreads To Entire Montco Home Early Monday Morning

Firefighters were called out to the blaze a little before 5 Monday morning. The fire started at the deck and eventually spread all over.

EAST NORRITON TOWNSHIP, PA — Firefighters were called out early Monday morning to fight a house fire in this central Montgomery County community.

A call for a residential blaze came through at around 4:51 a.m. at the townhouses on Percy Court in East Norriton Township, according to fire officials.

The Norriton Fire Engine Company said that the incident began as a deck fire at one of the homes in the adjoining townhouses, but that the fire was quickly upgraded when it became apparent that flames were spreading throughout the entire home, quickly engulfing all floors and into the roofs of two attached houses.

The residents of the original home and the attached homes that were affected were subsequently removed from the structures unharmed, but firefighters had to work for more than an hour to put out the blaze, the Norriton Fire Engine Company said.

The fire was completely extinguished by just before 6 a.m. Monday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Personnel from other fire departments came out to assist on the call.

Those who assisted were Harmonville Fire Company No. 1, Norristown Fire Engine Company, Jefferson Fire Company No. 1, Conshohocken Fire Company No. 2, George Clay Fire Company Station 39, Worcester Volunteer Fire Department, Lower Providence Fire Department and Plymouth Fire Company No. 1.

Photos of the fire scene posted by emergency officials on Facebook show what appears to be extensive damage to the home as well as some damage to the adjoining homes.
