A King of Prussia man has been charged with DUI and related offenses after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a daycare center on the 300 block of Airy Street on Wednesday night.

A King of Prussia man is facing DUI and related charges after he allegedly drove his vehicle into the Creative Care Child Center on Wednesday night.

According to police, Paul McArdle, 31, was driving a 2013 Volkswagen when an officer in an unmarked vehicle allegedly saw McArdle speed through a red light on East Airy Street. The officer immediately engaged his emergency lights, but lost sight of McArdle, police said.

The pursuing officer regained sight of McArdle a short time later, and witnessed the vehicle crash through a fence before striking the porch of the daycare center, located on the 300 block of East Airy Street, the report states. The building sustained a broken front window as a result of the crash.

The report states that McArdle exited the vehicle and showed signs of being intoxicated. When asked if he would consent to a blood-draw, McArdle reportedly said "Can't I just tell you I'm drunk?", according to the report.

He was later taken to Einstein Medical Center for a blood draw. No injuries were reported.
