NORRISTOWN, PA — Duplicate mail-in ballots were sent to several voters in Montgomery County recently in the lead-up to the 2025 general election, officials confirmed after numerous reports.

Around 68 total duplicate ballots were mailed out in counties across the state, the nonprofit Votebeat reports.

At least four of them were in Montgomery County. Other counties impacted included Luzerne, Carbon, and Dauphin, Votebeat added.

Officials said that the mistakes would not have resulted in any votes being counted twice. WFMZ reports that the four impacted voters have been contacted, and that their ballots will only be counted once.

It is not yet clear what caused the errors, and why they occurred simultaneously in separate counties.

Because all duplicate ballots have been cancelled, there is no risk of voter fraud or mistaken ballot counting due to the error, the Department of State said.

Officials are continuing to investigate the incidents.

The general election is Nov. 4 in Pennsylvania, though mail-in voters have been sending back their ballots for weeks now.
