East Norriton Township Receives $1 Million-Plus Grant For Traffic Signal Upgrade

The grant dollars come from Pennsylvania's Green Light-Go grant program, which is used to help communities with traffic upgrades.

EAST NORRITON, PA — This Montgomery County township has been awarded grant funding of over $1 million to help with improvements to traffic signals along a major thoroughfare.

The state announced that East Norriton Township was given a state grant in the amount of $1,092,350 to be used to improve traffic signals at 14 intersections along Germantown Pike from Old Arch Road to Trooper Road.

The stretch of Germantown Pike from Old Arch Road to the Lower Providence Township line at Trooper Road can be notoriously busy and congested.

The money comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Green Light-Go program, which are provided as reimbursements to municipalities for upgrades to existing traffic signals.

The East Norriton grant was one of numerous grants awarded to communities all across the state as part of the Green Light-Go program.

"The safety improvements supported by the Green Light-Go program help municipalities relieve congestion and traffic flow, as well as keep Pennsylvanians moving safely and efficiently," Gov. Tom Wolf said in a statement. "I'm proud to help our communities improve mobility for Pennsylvanians."

Wolf's office announced the grant awards on Wednesday.

The East Norriton grant was one of 14 issued to municipalities across Montgomery County for similar traffic improvement projects.

In total, grants went to communities in 33 out of Pennsylvania's 67 counties.
