Ernest Hadrick Jr. Being Inducted into the Montco Coaches Hall of Fame
The Norristown native who made a name for himself on the track will be inducted into the Hall at an Oct. 9 ceremony at Westover Country Club.
Times Herald managing editor Gordon Glantz recently penned an ode to Norristown's Ernie Hadrick, Jr. on the occasion of his induction into the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame.
Glantz talked with Hadrick about his track career (a state title in the 440-yard dash, placing second in the 200 and his coaching career at Bishop Kenrick and Norristown Area High School), his work as a guidance counselor at the high school and the influence his parents, who were activist in Norristown in the '60s, had on him.
"They were very active in the labor movement," Hadrick told the Herald of his parents. "My mother and father were always involved in the NAACP. When I finished coaching the second time, I really got involved."
