Expect Weekend Long Lane Closures on 476
Crews will work through the weekend to restore three lanes on Northbound side of I-476.

According to a release issued by PennDOT, lane closures are scheduled this weekend, Friday, Oct. 28 through Monday, Oct. 31 on northbound Interstate 476 (the Blue Route) between the Interstate 76 (Exit 16) and Germantown Pike West (Exit 20) interchanges as crews work to restore three travel lanes on the northbound side of the highway.
Two travel lanes are currently open on the northbound side of I-476 and one northbound “express” lane runs on the southbound side of the highway as crews complete rebuilding the northbound lanes.
When the upcoming weekend operation finishes early on Monday, Oct. 31, the northbound side of I-476 will return to its normal three-lane pattern. The northbound “express” lane on the southbound side of I-476 will be closed and removed over the course of the next two weeks.

Periodic traffic stoppages are also scheduled on northbound I-476 at the I-76 Interchange on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from midnight to 5 am.
The weekend work is dependent on the weather. Drivers are advised to allow extra time for travel on northbound I-476 this weekend because backups will occur during construction.
The operation is part of PennDOT’s $71.7 million project to rebuild the 3.2 miles of I-476 between the I-76 (Exit 16) and Germantown Pike (Exit 20) interchanges in Montgomery County. PennDOT’s contractor, Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, rebuilt the southbound side of I-476 in 2010 and the northbound side in 2011.
The $71,728,383 contract is financed with 100% federal funds.
