Family Services Receives $10,000 Grant
The grant from Green Tree Community Health Foundation will support Project HEARTH, a program aimed at helping older adults stay in their homes.

According to a release issued by Family Services, the organization recently received a $10,000 grant from Green Tree Community Health Foundation in support of Project HEARTH (Helping Elderly Adults Remain in Their Homes).
Created in 1994, Project HEARTH links elderly adults who are healthy enough to live in their own homes with special support services that help them to remain independent. These support services are available to older adults (ages 60 and up) who live in the greater Norristown, North Penn and Pottstown areas. Through Project HEARTH, a professional clinician visits homebound seniors in their own homes to help them cope with anxiety, depression, chronic illness, isolation, loneliness and loss. In addition, dedicated volunteers provide seniors with concrete support services like transportation, grocery shopping assistance, friendly visiting and minor home repairs.
“Thanks to the continued support of the Green Tree Community Health Foundation, Project HEARTH can continue to assist seniors who are at significant risk of institutionalization so that they can remain independent in the comfort of their own homes for as long as possible,” said Shushma Patel, program director, Project HEARTH.
