Heat Wave Breaks In Eastern PA, But It Won't Last: Latest Forecast

A potentially severe storm front is also on the way, but the severe heat is not over yet for the Philly region.

EASTERN PA — Philadelphia area residents will get a brief reprieve from last week's record-breaking heat wave on Monday, but it won't last for long.

Temperatures will drop to a comparatively cool high of 83 on Monday, before soaring back to 92 on Tuesday and 96 on Wednesday. A storm front is incoming in the middle of the week that may lead to damaging winds and hail, and that will likely bring a sustained period of cooler temperatures to the region by the end of the week.

The shift from heat to cooler weather could be accompanied by more severe storms than usual.

" The transition, however, may spark a round of heavy, gusty and locally severe thunderstorms," AccuWeather notes. "Similar situations in the past have triggered damaging wind and flash flooding events."

The front will arrive at some point after 2 p.m. Wednesday, and continue until the evening hours Thursday.
