High School Renovation Costs on the Rise

The School Board adopted plans Monday night that include a $622,784 bump in the estimated cost for an addition at the high school.

Acccording to The Times Herald, the Norristown Area School Board adopted three plans from the Department of Education that outline a $622,784 increase in the $3 million original plan for nine-room, three-story addition to the (NAHS).

The addition is being paid for as part of the $13.5 million renovation project for the entire high school. The new addition is expected to be open in September of 2012.

In other school district business, the boardrecognized several area organizations that work with the district throughout the school year.

“We do a lot with what we have,” School board President Denise Ashe told The Herald. “We have so many agencies we work with — CADCOM, the West Norriton and Norristown police departments, the Norristown branch of the NAACP.”
