MCCC began offering the Surgical Technology curriculum in 2004 in response to a documented shortage of operating room health care workers in the region. The Surgical Technology 16-month Associate in Applied Science degree and 12-month certificate program are designed to prepare graduates to function as health care team members under the supervision of registered professional nurses or licensed physicians.
Students learn to prepare the operating room, instruments and equipment for surgery, as well as acquire operating room surgical technology skills.
