Monsignor Lynn Testifies in Clergy Sex-Abuse Case

According to Newsworks.org, Monsignor William Lynn testified on his own behalf Wednesday, May 23, in the ongoing clergy sex-abuse case in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Lynn is accused of transferring priests he knew to have committed acts of sexual abuse against children to unknowing parishes. 

According to Newsworks, Lynn testified that "he followed the reporting chain of command, and that it was the cardinal's decision to decide if a priest should be transferred."

Prosecutors allege Lynn allowed two other priests charged with sexually assaulting teen boys to remain in ministry. 

Lynn took the stand again Thursday, May 24, to reiterate his claims that he worked hard to investigate all abuse allegations.

Lynn is reportedly the first U.S. Roman Catholic official charged for helping to cover up abuse complaints.
