Montco Candidates Spending Record Amounts in Race for Commissioner
Spending in this year's county commissioners' race dwarfs that in other counties

According to a report on Philly.com, Republican candidates for county commissioner Bruce L. Castor Jr. and Jenny Brown and Democratic candidates Josh Shapiro and Leslie Richards have raised over $2 million in campaign funds and have spent most of it on TV, last-minute mailers and get-out-the-vote initiatives, according to the latest campaign filings.
Apparently those figures are well beyond what candidates in our neighboring counties are spending. According to Philly.com, candidates for commissioner in Bucks County – the county with the next highest totals – have only raised $543,000.
According to Republican party chairman Rob Gleason, that should come as no surprise. The outcome could result in an unprecedented power shift in what has historically been a Republican-dominated county.
