Montco Emergency Services Brace For Heavy Rain, Possible Floods

Emergency water rescue crews are on standby as local officials keep a close eye on the remnants of a powerful Tropical Storm.

EAGLEVILLE, PA — Emergency crews are on standby across Montgomery County as the greater Philadelphia area braces for another round of potentially severe weather Tuesday afternoon into the evening.

While the day has begun very hot, with temperatures soaring to the mid-90s in some areas and high humidity, heavy rain is expected from around 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. A flood watch is in effect for all of the five-county area during that time.

In Montgomery County, the Eagleville-based Department of Public Safety is preparing for possible water rescue rescues and more.

The agency said their Urban Search and Rescue team has been placed on standby at their Special Operations Substation, which is located in Upper Dublin Township. The "standby" status will continue through the afternoon and into the evening for the duration of the storm.

"The team is equipped to provide both water rescue and collapse-based response if requested by our municipal partners," the Department of Public Safety said.

Forecasters said that rain could fall at a rate of up two inches per hour, leading to flash flooding in flood prone areas around the region.
