Council Reminds Residents of New Snow Ordinances
Before the snow starts falling this winter, Norristown residents should be aware of the new rules about snow removal and parking space saving.

While we're not due for a white Christmas this year, the snow will be falling before you know it this winter and Norristown residents need to know the rules when it comes to getting rid of it.
Norristown Municipal Council enacted two new ordinances in October dealing with snow removal and saving parking spaces this winter.
Where snow removal is concerned, ordinance 11-16 authorizes the to issue tickets for throwing or placing snow or ice in the traveled area of the street. Residents and non-commercial workers will get a $10 ticket and commercial snow removers and contractors will get a $100 ticket for offenses.

As for space saving, ordinance 11-17 prohibits the placement of objects in the street following snow and ice storms. Objects placed in street will be removed by the municipality and disposed of.
The municipality is going door to door in Norristown neighborhoods with door hangers advertising the new ordinances in an effort to make sure the word gets out to all residents.
