Norristown Fire Caused by Roofer’s Torch Extinguished, Says Fire Chief
The Norristown Fire Department responded to a call Monday evening and found a building full of smoke.

After receiving a report of rubber burning inside of a building at 136 West Main Street in Norristown Monday evening, the Norristown Fire Department responded around 8 p.m. to find smoke filling the building from a small fire cause by a roofer’s torch, according to Fire Chief Thomas M. O'Donnell in an email to Patch.com.
Following a 911 call, “[a] smoldering fire was found in the ceiling area below the roof of the first floor commercial area of the building,” wrote O’Donnell.

According to O’Donnell, 136 West Main Street comprises commercial space on the first floor, with apartments above that.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in a timely manner, and all of the units that responded left the scene by around 9:30 p.m., he wrote.
