Norristown Murder Investigation Is Ongoing
Police urge all residents to call 9-1-1 immediately when they hear gunshots.

NORRISTOWN, PA —Police are continuing to search for suspects in the June 6 fatal slaying of 56-year Stephan Bates whose body was discovered at 5:10 a.m. in the 500 block of Noble Street.
Police said only one call came into 9-1-1 at 11 p.m.with a report of a shot fired in the 300 block of Noble Street.
The 300 block of Noble Street is about .3 miles from the location where the body was found.Lt. Michael Bishop urgedresidents to call 9-1-1- immediately when they hear gunshots in the area.

“People don’t call because they figure their neighbors will call,” Bishop said. “Don’t assume your neighbor will call.”
Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Noble Street, and did not find a victim.

Bates of Norristown was later found lying on a sidewalk on Noble Street next to cars about 25 to 30 yards from Marshall Street.
Bates died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s office.
The death was ruled the death Stephan Bates is a homicide.
