Norristown Ready To Upgrade Riverfront Park Along Schuylkill River

Norristown's Council awarded $405,000 contract for upgrades including construction of a pavilion that could be used for weddings.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown Borough Council Tuesday night awarded a $405,000 contract to a Newtown Square-based construction company to upgrade the Riverfront Park along the Schuylkill River.

The contractor, Foresite Concepts Inc., was hired to upgrade the landscaping at the borough’s park along the Schuylkill River.

The upgrades also include construction of a pavilion that could be used for parties and weddings as well as new lighting, signage, and walkways.

Crandall Jones, borough administrator, said the park will be opened from dawn to dusk, noting the gates of the park will close at night to prevent illicit drug use and other problems.

Erica Genardi, recreation manager, said the project will be funded with a $202,500 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and $202,500 from the borough.
