Norristown's New Snow Removal Rules

With snow expected to hit our area, we thought it would be a good time to go over the new rules about snow removal in Norristown.

According to the weatherman, so we here at Norristown Patch thought it was a good time to go over the new rules about getting rid of the white menace.

Norristown Municipal Council enacted dealing with snow removal and saving parking spaces this winter.

Where snow removal is concerned, ordinance 11-16 authorizes the to issue tickets for throwing or placing snow or ice in the traveled area of the street. Residents and non-commercial workers will get a $10 ticket and commercial snow removers and contractors will get a $100 ticket for offenses.

As for space saving, ordinance 11-17 prohibits the placement of objects in the street following snow and ice storms. Objects placed in street will be removed by the municipality and disposed of.

The municipality went door to door in Norristown neighborhoods with door hangers advertising the new ordinances over the last few months in an effort to make sure the word got out to all residents.
