Norristown's Newest Firefighter Sworn In
Matthew Gallagher was sworn in with the help of his family last night as Norristown's newest career firefighter.

According to the Norristown Fire Department's website, Matthew Gallagher was sworn in last night at the Norristown Municipal Council meeting as a firefighter with the department. Gallagher was sworn in by his father, the Honorable James Gallagher, who is also a fire chief with the King of Prussia Fire Company, continuing a a long and proud tradition of firefighter families.
Joining Gallagher at the ceremony were his brother David, a career firefighter in Upper Darby, and his Uncle John, who is also a Norristown firefighter.
“I’m extremely proud,” James Gallagher told The Times Herald. “It is a profession that you give back to your community every day. It’s been his dream.”

The younger Gallagher started as a volunteer firefighter with the King of Prussia Fire Company and the Norristown Fire Department.
