Norristown Veteran Facing Charges for Swindling Nonprofit

According to The Times Herald, Robert Adolf Fisher, a Norristown resident, is facing charges connected with the misappropriation of almost $50,000 from the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 25 in Norristown, a nonprofit organization designed to provide aid for disabled veterans and their families.

Fisher reportedly oversaw the organization's finances from May 2008 to February 2011 and during that time cut checks to himself from the organization's accounts and used funds for groceries, booze, gas, eating out and even parking tickets.

According to the Herald, the criminal complaint against Fisher states that the DAV had $48,486.60 in the bank when Fisher took over in 2008 and had a deficit of -$188.22 by February of last year.

Fisher is facing 300 counts of multiple charges including theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and other related charges.

According to court records, Fisher, who previously lived in Conshohocken, has faced similar charges of theft by deception and receiving stolen property as well as passing bad checks and even retail theft on multiple occasions throughout the 1990s. Outcomes of the numerous cases range from the prosecution being dropped to Fisher being found guilty and paying restitution.
