Norristown Woman Jumps from Third Floor Window in Apparent Suicide Attempt

The 43 year old woman is in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

According to a report from the , a 43-year-old Norristown woman with a history of mental health issues allegedly jumped from a third floor window of her residence on West Main Street shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30. The woman survived, but reportedly suffered a severe skull fracture and is in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) in Philadelphia.

According to police, officers arrived on the scene to find a white female lying in a pool of blood with a white male kneeling over her. The man, the 65-year-old fiance of the woman, identified her for officers and detailed the events leading up to the incident.

According to the man, the woman had been sitting on the window ledge in their third-floor bedroom and was upset because he was on the phone with his ex-wife. He also indicated that the woman had been troubled by a custody issue with her 16-year-old daughter.

The man told he police he had seen her sitting on the ledge and then she was gone. He had assumed the woman had stepped out onto the outer ledge past the window, but when he went to the window to look for her he saw her lying on the sidewalk below.

According to the fiance, the woman was supposed to have seen her case worker at , but missed the appointment. She had also allegedly not been taking her medication for several days.

Police searched the apartment for additional evidence and found two notes attached to the refrigerator – one a small fortune cookie with a handwritten note saying, "1st day 11-2-11 Always Enough," and another, a matchbook cover with a handwritten note saying, "Last Day Good Bye!!" and the name of the fiance written in cursive.

The woman was flown by medevac to HUP where she remains in critical condition.
