Norristown's Khalif Wyatt, Dwayne Davis Go Undrafted

Though neither player was selected during last night's NBA Draft, both are expected to play on summer league teams.

When the Memphis Grizzlies selected Janis Timma with the final pick of last night's NBA Draft, the dream of hearing their name selected came to an unfortunate end for Norristown natives Khalif Wyatt and Dwayne Davis.

Nearly as quickly as the draft ended, sports writers and bloggers took to the web to compile lists of the best available undrafted players and voice their frustration about players who were snubbed. Two familiar names lead many of those lists: Wyatt and Davis.

In a column on Yahoo! Sports, Jeff Eisenberg took aim at how little value NBA franchises and scouts place on college production. He did so by drawing a comparison between Wyatt's monstrous run in this year's NCAA tournament and someone like Marko Todorovic, who was drafted despite only averaging 2.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in the Spanish League.

Locally, Dick Jerardi at the Daily News makes the case that Wyatt's offensive game, vision and confidence were deserving of a selection, but other believe those skills were not enough to overcome Wyatt's perceived lack of speed and athleticism.

As for Davis, the dream of going from a homeless teen to an NBA player will have to wait a few more days. Davis' efforts as a one year starter at the University of Southern Mississippi earned him First-Team All Conference USA honors, as well as a Conference USA Basketball Newcomer of the Year award.

On the bright side for Wyatt and Davis, both men are expected to receive invitations to play in the summer league, where they will have the chance to show scouts whether or not they were right in passing them up.

Following the conclusion of the draft, Wyatt fired off one single tweet: "It ain't over."
