Occupy Norristown Finds More Supporters for Today's Rally

A national seniors group has teamed up with the Occupy Norristown movement for a Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid demonstration today at noon.

Occupy Norristown will be occupying the again today , followed by a general assembly at 3pm. This time around, the group will have additional backing from a national seniors' organization looking to raise awareness of threatened cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare has issued a release announcing it will team with Occupy Norristown at the public demonstration and assembly today at the courthouse. The group plans to rally against the threat of cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid as part of federal deficit reduction. 

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare recently launched the “HANDS OFF-NO CUTS” campaign to stop proposals which would cut the programs. According to the release, the campaign activities are focused on members of Congress and the 12-member Deficit Reduction Super Committee and include local and national radio and TV advertising, town halls, social media, petition drives, phone campaigns and local or regional events.
