Pa. State Firemen's Parade in Norristown on Saturday!
The 2012 Firemen's Association of the State of Pennsylvania Convention is in full swing and it closes tomorrow with a spectacle featuring over 300 fire trucks, 16 marching bands and over a 1000 firefighters in the dress blues.
The 2012 Firemen's Association of the State of Pennsylvania Convention that kicked off at the Montgomery County Fire Academy on Thursday continued with more training sessions and meetings, a memorial to fallen firefighters and an open house later that evening at Montgomery Hose Fire Company at Pine and Freedly streets. (Check out our pictures from those events above and add some of your own if you have any.)
The real fun for the rest of us starts Saturday though, at 1 p.m. That's when over 300 fire trucks and emergency vehicles, 16 marching bands (including a Mariachi band!) and over 1000 firefighters dressed to impress will take to the streets of Norristown for a parade, the likes of which you'll have to see to believe.
The parade will begin at at Marshall and Buttonwood streets at 1 p.m. and travel down Marshall to Astor Street, turn right at Astor to Main Street, and left on Main to Arch Street. A judging stand will be erected at the Montgomery County Courthouse where a professional panel of judges will grade the companies on apparatus, marching, and appearance.
