Parade, Fireworks and More! Norristown's Full Fourth of July Activities Schedule

There's plenty going this Independence Day in Norristown.

Norristown isn't just celebrating Independence Day on July 4 – all of our Fourth of July activities are part of the municipality's ongoing Bicentennial Celebration, so there's plenty of partying to be done.

4th Annual Celebration Run

It all kicks off at 8:30 a.m. when, in celebration of our nation's independence, East Norriton, West Norriton, and the Municipality of Norristown will host the 4th Annual Celebration 5k run. The course begins and ends at and will be primarily run in the . Proceeds from the race will be donated to the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library. 

Registration for race day is $25 and begins at 7 a.m. on race day and ends at 8:15am. A limited number of t-shirts will be available on race day. Plenty of awards this year, including trophies and $100 cash to the overall male and female winners. There's also a $50 bonus to the runner that sets a new course record for men and women (the record stands at John Gries' 15:16 for men and Christa Johnson's 18:40 for women.)

The Parade

The parade kicks off at 10:30 a.m. at Airy and Swede streets and will proceed down Airy Street, take a right Astor, make a left on Marshall, a right on Stanbridge, a right on Sterigere and end at Harding Boulevard in Elmwood Park.

Bring a chair or blanket and sit anywhere along the route, but the municipality asks that you please be respectful of private property. And make sure your vehicle is removed from the parade route starting at 9 a.m. on July 4. Vehicles left on the route will be ticketed and towed. Roads adjacent to the route will be closed during the parade.

Post Parade Fun & Fireworks

After the parade, head to for plenty of kids' activities and live entertainment at the bandshell all afternoon. There will be a variety of bands, antiques cars, an antique train, fun with the Stony Creek Anglers and plenty of inflatables from North pole Amusements. The snack bar will be open all day along with vendors serving treats in the bandshell area.

Elmwood Park Activities:

  • 12:30-4 p.m. - Inflatables from North Pole Amusements
  • 12:30-1:30 p.m. - Kids' entertainment with Judy Tudy
  • 1:30-2:30 p.m. - Face painting by Celie
  • 2:45-3:30 p.m. - Caricaturist
  • 3:45 p.m. - Independence Egg Hunt

Stick around for the Motown Review Concert from 6 to 8 p.m. 

The fireworks will begin at dusk and the best place to watch will be right from the park.
