The college faced criticism after originally announcing that its internal investigation would be led by two university trustees – Kenneth Frazier, CEO of Merck, and Ronald Tomalis, Education Secretary for Pennsylvania.

Freeh has no ties to Penn State and has already compiled a team of former FBI agents, federal prosecutors and others who are reading the grand jury report and looking at additional records.
