Police Briefs

The following information was supplied by the Norristown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sexual Assault

  • According to reports from the Norristown Police Department, police met up with a young woman at the Norristown Transportation Center Tuesday, Feb. 7 to take a report of a sexual assualt. The woman states she was at 12th and Race streets in Philadelphia when a man wearing a ski mask pulled up to her in a Jeep and told her to “come here.” She said she ran on foot but the man pursued her and reportedly caught her about half a block away. He then allegedly forced her into her vehicle and she was unable to get out. The victim states the man drove her to a house and held her captive overnight. She said she was raped several times by the same man. The woman said she was able to free herself and escaped to the Norristown Transportation Center where she contact a relative who instructed her to call the police. She also stated to paramedics that the perpetrator had a gun on him and forced her to smoke crack. She was taken to Montgomery Hospital where a rape kit was taken. Her cell phone and bus pass were placed into evidence. A commuter at the Transportation Center approached police and asked what the young woman had told them. Police did not give the commuter any information, but he told police that the woman who had been talking with them had been on the Route 100 train coming in from Philadelphia just prior to calling police. He stated he does not know the woman.

Possession

  • Cheri M. Kavetski, of the 200 block of Stanbridge Street, was arrested for possession and two active county sheriff’s warrants Thursday, Feb. 9. Police were monitoring traffic in the are of Main Street and Haws Avenue when they saw a Montgomery County Sheriff’s marked patrol car pull into the parking lot of the Sunnoco APlus. According to the report, as a sheriff deputy approached Kavetski to arrest her for the active warrants, Kavetski reportedly took off running. Police then started driving the patrol car toward her and the sheriff deputy was able to catch her and cuff her. She was asked if she had anything on her to which she allegedly replied, “Yeah, drugs.” Police reportedly recovered five small bags — each containing a white, rock-like substance. In addition, a crack-pipe was reportedly removed from her purse at the police station.

Harassment

  • Tania Pachoco, of the 00 block of East Jacoby Street, was cited for harassment Monday, Feb. 6. The victim reportedly called police and reported that while he was in the shower, Pachoco allegedly entered the bathroom. She reportedly began yelling at the victim and struck him. She was cited by mail.
  • Hector Arroyo, of the 00 block of Jacoby Street, was cited for harassment Monday, Feb. 6. According to the report, Arroyo allegedly grabbed the victim by her neck and pushed her against a wall. He was mailed a citation for harassment.

Threats

  • A victim went to the police department to report that a suspect called him and threatened to burn his house on the 500 block of Hamilton Street down Thursday, Feb. 9. The caller left a message that said, “Go ahead and take this to the police and tell them. I don’t care.” The message was played for police. The accused reportedly has made threats to do damage to the victim’s property in the past.

Theft

  • A resident reported to police that her 2010 Nissan Versus Si was stolen from the 800 block of Cherry Street during the Tuesday, Feb. 7 and Wednesday, Feb. 8 overnight. The victim said she left the doors unlocked and keys in the center console.
  • A green aluminum lawn chair was reported stolen to police from the 1000 block of Swede Street Thursday, Feb. 9.  The chair was valued at $25. The victim did not want a victim’s rights form.

Criminal Mischief

  • A victim reported to police that an unknown person took a large piece of concrete and smashed the rear windshield to his 2006 Lincoln Zephyr Thursday, Feb. 9. The vehicle was parked on the 400 block of West Lafayette Street at the time of the incident. The damage was estimated to be $300 and a victim’s claim form was provided.

Transient Vendor/Merchant Violation

  • Kristin Smith, of the 500 block of North Budd Street in Philadelphia, and Patricia Andrews, of the 00 block of East Mockingbird Lane in Galloway, were cited for transient vendor/merchant violation Thursday, Feb. 9. Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of West James Street for a report of two suspicious persons. According to the report Smith and Andrews were soliciting door-to-door for Direct Energy without permits. They were advised and sent on their way. Police said they would be cited by mail.

Found Property

  • Police were flagged down by a resident who reported a blue wheelchair turned upside down at the Riverfront Park Thursday, Feb. 9. The chair was retrieved and placed in evidence.

Warrants

  • Michael Daly, of the 1700 block of Windsor Road in Blue Bell was arrested for an active sheriff’s warrant Wednesday, Feb. 8. Police served a bench warrant to Daly on the 200 block of East Main Street. He was placed into custody and transported to the sheriff’s office.
  • Brian Marburger, of the 1500 block of Powell Street, was arrested for two active criminal warrants Wednesday, Feb. 8. He went to court for a preliminary hearing and was discovered to have the active warrant. He was taken into custody.
  • Geraldine Jones, of the 800 block of Green Street, was arrested for an active warrant Thursday, Feb. 9. Police were called to Jones’ address for a report of a disturbance and found she had an active warrant. She was patted down for weapons and taken into custody.
  • George Ramirez, of the 1100 block of Markley Street, was arrested for an active warrant Thursday, Feb. 9. He was picked up at his residence and taken into custody.
  • Debbie A. Clemens, of the 400 block of West Marshall Street, was arrested for numerous active fine and cost warrants Thursday, Feb. 9. She reportedly had four warrants for a total of $925.50. She was placed into custody and taken to the police station to await arraignment.
