Police Investigating String of Recent Strong Arm Robberies

Police are searching for suspects in at least three separate robberies since Saturday.

According to , the is investigating several strong arm robberies in Norristown over the last few days.

On Saturday, Nov. 26, at approximately 8:20 p.m., two black males assaulted a man on the 500 block of Astor Street, punching him in the mouth and breaking his tooth. The suspects took $200 from the victim.

On Sunday, Nov. 27, at approximately 11 p.m., a man was robbed at Arch and Oak streets by a group of four black males in their late teens and 20s led by a man the victim identified as his cousin, "B.J." B.J. allegedly grabbed him and went through his pockets, taking several hundred dollars in his mother’s rent money. During the robbery, the victim was punched and knocked to the ground.

On Monday, Nov. 29, at approximately 9:20 p.m., a man was robbed at gunpoint on the 600 block of Chain Street. The victim was approached from behind by a black male in his late 20s who ordered him to the ground and said, “Stay on the ground. If you get up, I’ll shoot you.”

The suspect went through the victim’s pockets and took $4. Before running off in the direction of Marshall Street, the suspect hit the victim in the head with the gun.

While searching the area for the suspect, police stopped and questioned 23-year-old Haneef Jones. Jones was not armed, but he did have an active warrant. Jones was taken into custody and found to be in possession of several bags of crack cocaine. Jones is currently being held on $10,000 bail.
