Police Nab Stick Up Man Who Tried to Pick Up Cab Driver

Kevin Jerome Sheaff Jr. is also being charged in recent ATM robberies at Wells Fargo on East Main Street.

According to The Times Herald, a cab driver who was spotted the suspect at the Wednesday afternoon and called 911. Police reportedly arrived in minutes and took 19-year-old Kevin Jerome Sheaff Jr. into custody.

Sheaff allegedly flagged down the cab driver at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5, on the corner of Main and Swede streets. Once in her cab, he spoke in what the victim believed was an obviously fake Jamaican accent and asked to be taken to his home on Oak Street near the park.

As the cab approached Arch and Oak streets, Sheaff allegedly pulled out a small black semiautomatic handgun and instructed the victim to keep driving. As the victim continued on Arch Street and circled the block, Sheaff allegedly went through her purse. He didn't remove anything from her purse and spent the time "making small talk" and asked if she had a boyfriend.

When the cab arrived back at Arch and Oak streets, the victim handed over the  $88 she had on her. Sheaff then reportedly told her to get out of the cab, reassuring her he would not take the car, but wanted her to stand and turn around in a circle so he could see her better. He then asked the victim for her phone number. The victim gave the suspect her boyfriend's phone number and he then exited the cab and instructed her to drive away.

Sheaff is also being charged with in the Main and Swede streets area. In both cases, victims where held up at gunpoint after using the ATM.
