Portion of Northbound Markley Street to Close for Three Years
The northbound lane of Markley Street between Harding Boulevard and Roberts Street will be closed for three years, beginning June 17.

As part of the $20.8 million roadway improvement plan, the northbound lane of Markley Street will be closed between Harding Boulevard and Roberts Street for three years, beginning June 17.
The lane closure is part of a two-phase program aiming to improve and beautify the entirety of Markley Street in Norristown.
A posted detour will divert northbound traffic heading toward Markley Street over U.S. Route 202 North / DeKalb Street in Bridgeport and Norristown up to Johnson Highway at the northern end of the borough. The southbound lane will remain open, though periodic stoppages can be expected from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for the entire three-year duration.

Markley Street will have both lanes open between Main Street and Harding Boulevard on the southern end, and Roberts Street and Johnson Highway on the northern end. SEPTA's northbound Route 90 bus will be detoured over Logan Street and Harding Boulevard, beginning early this month.
By completion, the Markley Street improvement plan will provide one travel lane in each direction plus a center lane for left turns, recessed parking bays in residential areas, new trees and decorative pedestrian street lights, an off-street parking lot at the corner of Harding Boulevard and Markley Street and new traffic signals, curb ramps and Intelligent Transportation System components.
