Recorder of Deeds Warns: Don't Be Taken By Property Deed Companies

recently spoke with Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds Nancy Becker, who warned residents about companies offering to provide homeowners with certified copies of the deed to their property.

“They are legitimate companies," Becker told The Herald. "They’re just trying to make money.”

Becker noted that the businesses charge anywhere from $59.50 to $89.95 for the service, but her office will give you these same documents for 50 cents a page.
