Richards says County Commissioners '100 Percent Behind Norristown'

Montgomery County Commissioner Leslie Richards is reportedly making the revitalization of Norristown a high priority.

According to The Times Herald, Montgomery County Commissioner Leslie Richards is making Norristown a priority for the county's planning commission. 

“We want to make sure Norristown is a continuous topic of conversation with the planning commission, " Richards told The Herald.

The planning commission outlined several current and proposed county projects focusing on Norristown at a meeting on Wednesday. The projects discussed included:

  • The 400 trees planted in Norristown in the last few years;
  • The Norristown riverfront redevelopment;
  • A $175,000 Revitalization Implementation grant directed a the Norristown Arts Hill;
  • Approval of the firs phase of the Lafayette Street Corridor. (Construction is expected to begin before the end of the year.)

“We’re asking the Planning Commission and the staff to be aware that the commissioners are 100 percent behind Norristown, helping them accomplish some of their priorities, and making sure that Norristown becomes the county seat that we think Montgomery County deserves,” Richards told The Herald.
